A silver plated cocktail bar measure in the form of thimble in its original fitted box. These are a great way to add a little humour and detail to the home bar. This can also be used as a shot cup. This is a very beautiful and well made example. Made in a thick gauge of metal, heavy knurling detail and light gilt wash through the interior.
The measure is made in the form of a knitting thimble, worn on the thumb or finger and used to push the needle through. The repetitive nature of sewing created the need to protect the finger from hours of pushing the fairly pointed back end of the needle through.
The measure, or jigger, has the saying; "Just a Thimbleful" hand engraved into the upper collar. This is a funny play on the fact that a real thimble is in fact very small! The jigger is marked is unmarked. Made in England, circa 1930's and presented in its original hand made wood and leather fitted box, in itself a beautifully crafted object.
